NAMING, IDENTITY + BRAND DESIGN

Gushou

Gushou is a Toronto-based start-up, a social platform helping dragon boat rowers and captains communicate, organize and learn.

As dragon boat racing originated in Southern-Central China, we named the new platform Gushou (from the Mandarin 鼓手, meaning "drummer"), representing both the pulse of the dragon boat and the heart of the dragon boat community.

The logo itself also has two meanings, illustrating the sound waves of the drum as it sets the rhythm for the rowers, and the ripples made by the oars as they catch the water.
